Maxim is currently seeking a Payroll and Benefits Administrator for our head office in Winnipeg. The successful candidate will process payroll and related administration for all Maxim branches, provide information and guidance on related legislation, and process various insurance applications and claims.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Responsibilities

• Prepare payroll by sorting and coding payroll forms from branches
• Process transactions such as new employees, terminations, employee changes
• Verify and fix any errors that may be found after proofing
• Create journal entries and posts entries in the general ledger
• Prepare and process month-end and year-end activities such as wage accruals and tax forms
• Maintain all employee payroll/files and ensure proper filing accordingly
• Respond to internal and external inquiries concerning payroll, employment standards, reference letters requested, staff files, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 3+ years processing payroll and related administration
• Experience with Payworks system highly preferred
• Experience servicing 500+ employees for multiple provinces preferred
• Knowledge of inter-provincial standards and multiple payroll processing
• Basic accounting knowledge (debits/credits)
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and data entry
• Experience with benefit administration an asset
• Canadian Payroll Association education (PCP or CPM) an asset
• High aptitude for numbers and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
