Director, Trailer Sales

As the Director of Trailer Sales, you will play a key role in the Maxim family. In this role, you will provide leadership to Account Managers, Trailer Sales & Leasing and various support staff to grow sales nationally and build long-term customer relationships, to ensure continuous improvement in customer satisfaction, and maximize profitable operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and approves all retail trailer sales, manages and approves all wholesale unit sales, and manages the purchasing and allocation of all new trailers throughout the dealer network.
  • Oversees Used Trailer Manager to approve all used trailer purchases.
  • Identify and meet with internal & external customers regularly to ensure Maxim understands and meets their needs
  • Supervise staff following Maxim’s leadership principles by:

          o Hiring & retaining the right staff

          o Coaching staff to high performance

          o Creating a rewarding and productive work environment

          o Communicating performance & providing feedback to improve

  • Formulate annual business plan, budgets and productivity measures by location/product
  • Order stock and allocate initial placement

What you need to succeed in this role:

Please Note: A variety of experience and skills will be considered when selecting candidates

  • Minimum 5 years sales experience with trailer sales
  • Strong industry knowledge of strategies, practices, trends, and technology
  • Experience supervising a team of 5 or more people
  • Experience in a multi-branch, mid-size company preferred
  • Business management education (certificate, diploma or degree) an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of people
  • Builds relationships and negotiates with suppliers, customers, competitors
  • Proven leadership skills - motivating, coaching, and training
  • Ability to learn spec’ing and special order system in order to oversee process
  • Organized, sets priorities, meets deadlines
  • Aptitude for numbers and shows attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills – MS Word/Excel, email, internet, keyboarding
  • Results focused
  • Continuous process improvement advocate
  • Knowledge of Karmak business system (or similar) an asset
