About us:

The DLH Group of companies includes Maxim Truck & Trailer, Summit Trailer, Arne’s Welding, and Trout River Industries employing approximately 750 people in the Heavy-Duty dealership and trailer manufacturing industries located across Canada.

 

Position summary:

As part of the Human Resources Shared Service team, you will deliver professional and effective support, guidance, and feedback on recruitment & selection, employee & labour relations, training & development and other HR programs allowing DLH to attract, retain, and develop high performance employees. You will have the challenge and complexity of implementing national practices across multiple branches and working with various provincial legislation.

 

In this role you will:  

  • Deliver a high level of customer service that enhances our employee experience
  • Lead full cycle recruitment initiatives for various business units
  • Facilitate new staff orientation and conduct new staff ‘check-ins’
  • Provide recommendations to managers on resolution of employee issues
  • Provide guidance and written documentation throughout the progressive disciplinary process
  • Mediate and/or investigate workplace complaints
  • Conduct Exit surveys on voluntary terminations
  • Keep current with policies and relevant legislation changes to ensure compliance
  • Administer and update various people programs

 

What you need to be successful in this role:  

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources
  • CPHR designation (or working towards) preferred
  • 2 to 3 years broad HR experience in a mid-size company
  • Understanding of various provincial legislation & employment standards
  • Customer service focused with a strong business acumen
  • Easily builds rapport and relationships with stakeholders
  • Comfortable presenting in front of small groups
  • Strong administrative and documentation skills
  • Organized, sets priorities, and meets deadlines
  • Fact finding and analytical skills
  • Attentive to details with a high degree of accuracy
  • Deals professionally with confidential and sensitive information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel/PPT
  • Willingness and commitment to ongoing learning and development
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
