Hipperson Construction was performing some update work on the kitchen and cooler systems inside a Saskatchewan penitentiary in Prince Albert. They needed some reefer trailers for storage during their construction job, and rented from Maxim Truck & Trailer. Upon arrival of the rentals, it was clear the trailers were too tall to fit through the entry gates.
But where there's a will (and a Maxim branch) there's a way! Arrangements were made with Hipperson, the penitentiary, and a local crane company. Approvals were granted, and Maxim delivered four units to the lift location. The waiting crane rigged them up and lifted them safely over the walls. A Maxim truck and driver waited inside the walls to move them to their required position. All four units made it up and over the walls without a hitch.
The unit pictured is a 53ft tridem axle reefer van weighing close to 20,000 lbs.
